The third annual Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church Books of the Bible Dinner was held on Saturday, September 28 at 6:00pm at the church. This year the dinner theme is “loaves and fishes” from the Bible verses related to Jesus feeding the many from Matthew 14:13-21; Mark 6:30-44; Luke 9:10-17; John 6:1-15.
Sullivan’s Catering served delicious fried/baked/grilled catfish with sides.
The dinner featured a musical performance by harpist Astrid Walschot-Stapp. Astrid studied at the Maastricht Conservatory, at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels and at the Royal College of Music in London. Following her studies in London, she received a Performer Diploma from Indiana University. Astrid currently conducts the Frederick Harp Ensemble and maintains a private studio at the Frederick String Initiative in Frederick, Maryland. Astrid has performed with the National Symphony, National Philharmonic, Washington Opera, Baltimore Opera, National Gallery Orchestra, Richmond Symphony, Limburg Symphony, Opera Royal de Wallonie and at Carnegie Hall.
CHPC member Ruth Wasem, author of the just published Tackling Unemployment: the Legislative Dynamics of the Employment Act of 1946 spoke about the life and times of the 1946 landmark legislation and those who lived and worked on Capitol Hill.
